Hi,
I am new to the forum. I wish to consider using DLMSDirector together with a PLC modem to be able to identify and read L&G E460 PP meters and their CUI on the same power reticulation network.
I understand that this is possible using DLMSDirector but I wish to ask if anyone can suggest a reliable and reasonably priced PLC modem with which to do this. I do not require a DC with data storage I only wish to see if I may be able to read all meters remotely via a normal GSM network and then via the PLC Modem connect to the various PP meters to ther HES. The HES will have a wallet and all the normal PP functions may be achieved like one does with a conventional DC.
HES -------- GSM MODEM ----------- PLC MODEM ----------- PP METERS

HI,
I believe that the hardest part is joining GSM model to PLC modem. It can be that you need to find a modem where they are both included. It might be impossible to join GSM modem to PLC modem, or you need to add special cable to make it work. It's not the first time that you need to power Data Terminel Ready to up to make it work.
Let me know if you find any reasonably priced PLC modem. :-) They are usually quite 1expensive.
This can be really easy if you can find the correct modem, or then it's quite demanding. I'm sorry, but I can't help you with this.

Thank you.
I would expect that if the HES or DLMSDirector is already DLMS compatibale then using a GSM modem and PLC Modem should be no different to using DLMSDirector and a PLC Modem as the DLMS is encoded within Ethernet, whether it be via HES/GSN modem or DLMS Director PLC Modem? Or am I incorrect
DLMSDirect(DLMS) ------ PLC Modem (DLMS) ------ METER (DLMS)
HES (DLMS) ----- GSM MODEM ----- TCP (DLMS) ----- PLC Modem (DLMS) ---- METER (DLMS)

Hi,
In a perfect world, it works like this. In the real world converting TCP/IP to a serial port connection can cause a lot of problems.
The only way to check this is you get the model and try it.

Hi,
Thanks, It seems so.
We do have systems which can send like MODBUS RTU which is encaluslated, and which does not strip the RTU header, so one can go direct from MB RTU to serial.
Seems DLMS may not be there yet.
Wil have to give it a go.
Found a DLMS G3-PLC modem - single phase, from www.modemtec.com but as you sat EU521.00
Thank you.
